The first release for more than a year brings major changes! To highlight just a few: - Major enhancements with regard to playability and stability.
- A tutorial mission!
- Enhancements to the tank's artificial intelligence: It is now entirely possible to be shot down by one of them!
- TnL makes full use of the Io language for scripting. Io's addons open up possibilities to extend the game in completely unforseen directions.
- It's now possible to switch to a free-moving observer mode, even in pause (press 'V').
- Missiles use real-life proportional navigation and have become incredibly dangerous.
This is what I would call a mini-release: There is just a Linux version and no source, data and Windows packages. If you want the source and the data, get them via darcs ! If you want a Windows version, wait until the next full release or nag the author about providing one.... Update: So far, not a single person has nagged. :-) Now go start your download ! |

Did a bunch of changes in preparation of a major release: - Invested loads of time in debugging the collision detection and fixing some errors where bullets would fly straight through actors without hitting them.
- Tanks are real collidables now and thus vulnerable to Vulcan rounds.
- External observer that works even in pause mode (press 'V' to switch to external view). While in external view, use mouse to look around. Moving the mouse forward and backward with the left mouse button held down will accelerate. Moving with the right mouse button held down will move to the side.Pressing the mouse wheel or middle button will stop the observer.
Want to give it a try? Get it from the darcs repository! The version has been tagged "070526". |

Development is up to speed again while I have some evening hours left. There is already support for a scripted tutorial mission guiding the first-time player through the most important controls. Much work has been done on keeping up with the development of the Io VM, the game's scripting engine. Right now, I'm trying to fix a show-stopping bug that occurred in conjunction with the scripting, where objects had been freed despite being referenced. |

The new release of Thunder&Lightning features smoothly chasing
views which bring a lot of fun and dynamic into the game. Experient
with it: F1 ... F6! Don't forget that you can control other units and even the tanks by pressing the N key. Switch off the AI pilot with A.
A missile warning will now alert you of incoming missiles, so you have time to evade.
Also, performance enhancements make the game much more playable. Update: Windows version uploaded now.
